Welcome to another episode of Must Reads where Dr. Ronald J. Allen, Professor Emeritus of Preaching, and Gospels and Letters at Christian Theological Seminary Indianapolis, discusses a book he edited: “Preaching the Manifold Grace of God.”

In this interview, Dr. Wes Allen talks with author Dr. Ronald J. Allen, a professor emeritus from Christian Theological Seminary, about the two-volume series titled "Preaching the Manifold Grace of God." The series aims to assist preachers in approaching the theological aspects of preaching with precision and discipline. The first volume focuses on historical ecclesial denominational families, such as the Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Reformed, Anabaptists, Anglican, Wesleyans, Baptists, African-American tradition, Stone Campbell Movement, and Pentecostalism. Each essay in this volume explores the theology of preaching within a specific tradition. The second volume shifts to contemporary theological families, including evangelicalism, post-liberalism, neo-orthodoxy, existentialism, and various racial and ethnic theologies. The goal is to help preachers recognize their historical roots and understand how they navigate contemporary theological perspectives. Allen emphasizes the importance of preachers being aware of their theological nuances and engaging in conversations within their specific theological camp.
